  Partner Workshop 2007
2007 NACME University and Corporate Partner Workshop

"Expanding Opportunities for Minority Students in Engineering in the Post-Michigan Era"

Sponsored by Chevron Corporation

Sixty-five educators and corporate partners, as well as seven educational non-profit organizational leaders joined the NACME Staff on July 29-31, for the NACME 2007 University and Corporate Partner Workshop.

The workshop, hosted by the University of Colorado at Boulder, focused on four key objectives:
To discuss the implications of raced -based scholarships in the Post-Michigan Era
To explore how companies can maximize campus recruitment efforts focused on underrepresented minority engineering students
To discuss "best practices" in recruiting, enrolling, educating and graduating underrepresented minority students in engineering
To review lessons learned from the first-year pilot of a Community College pathway to engineering

The workshop provided a platform for discussion and sharing of contemporary issues as they relate to American competitiveness and the under-tapped minority pool.
