NACME Vanguard Report: A Study of NACME’s Vanguard Engineering Scholarship Program
In 1995, NACME developed the Vanguard Engineering Scholarship Program (Vanguard) to address the educational and economic challenges linked to engineering, science, and research and development enterprises -- the shortage of skilled high-tech workers, the growing demand for engineers, and an underutilized minority talent pool. Vanguard, a unique high-school-through-university strategy, expands the pool of underrepresented minority engineering students by using unconventional assessment tools to identify talented students, supplying them intense academic support and significant financial aid.
