BEQUESTS

Support NACME with a Bequest

Making provision for a bequest to NACME is a simple process. However, it should be made with the advice of your attorney. The following information will help you get started:

Your bequest may designate that NACME receive a gift from your estate:

  • A dollar amount
  • An asset (such as security or real estate holding)
  • A percentage of your estate after specific bequests are made to other organizations, family, or friends

You can designate that your bequest be used directly to support a specific NACME program as follows:

  • Pre-engineering
  • Scholarships
  • Research and Policy
  • Communications

If you are unsure of what area you would like to support, you gift can be designated to be allocated to an area of great need “at the discretion of the NACME Board of Directors.”

You can also make a bequest to establish an endowed fund at NACME. Your bequest can endow a scholarship ($50,000 minimum gift) in your name or honor and memorialize someone other than yourself.

It is important for your attorney to have the proper legal description of NACME for your will. For legal purposes we are known as the “National Action Council for Minorities in Engineering, Inc.” Your attorney will also need our address: 440 Hamilton Avenue, White Plains, New York 10601.

Following your meeting with your attorney, we will be happy to discuss any details or questions he/she may have regarding the exact wording or provisions. Please contact Cathy Levy, Senior Director of Institutional Advancement at  914-539-4010, ext. 244 to learn more.
